GREEN BUILDING

Green building
is the practice of increasing the efficiency of buildings and their use of energy, water, and materials, and reducing building impacts on human health and the environment, through better siting, design, construction, operation, maintenance, and removal — the complete building life cycle.(Wikipedia)

GradCo is doing its part in reducing building footprintson the earth by utilizing green building principles and practices. By bringing together both the architectural and construction aspects of building under one company, the client is assured of the latest in green building design and also assured of continuity throughout the building process.

Certified as a Graduate Master Builder (GMB), Certified Graduate Remodeler (CGR) and registered Texas builder assure you of high quality and integrity in design and construction practices.  GradCo is seeking to become an industry expert by obtaining the Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design Associated Professional (LEED AP).

Design
Good green building design encompasses the most efficient usage of lighting, energy and materials in order to reduce building impact upon the environment. Solar lighting is utilized where appropriate to maximize use of daylight lighting in both residential and commercial buildings. Rainwater recapture, low VOC paints, dual flush toilets, recycled glass countertops and vanities are just a few of the elements incorporated into GradCo’s green-designed homes and offices.

Construction
Determining optimal site layout helps reduce energy usage by taking into consideration direction of sunlight and airflow. Durable and sustainable products such as aerated concrete block construction, engineered wood trusses, and incorporation of energy efficient appliances are examples of products that can be integrated during the construction phase.

Materials
Clients can choose from a variety of sustainable materials such as cork or bamboo. Tankless water heaters, high-end insulation, double-pane windows, and recycled materials all complement the green building process and contribute to environmentally friendly design and construction.

Cost
If designed properly, buying “green” should not cost more than a comparable residential or commercial design. Energy savings recouped from green design will offset any increased cost in product or design. Going “green” does not necessarily mean spending more green!

Business owners trust and rely on the personal service, creative talent and experience that president Sergio Grado provides with each construction project.
